Tesla Referral Program: Verified Status for 2026
What the Tesla referral program is worth today
One board for the US & Canada program — what a code is worth today, what changed and when, and what other pages still get wrong. Every line carries a date.

A Tesla referral code applies automatically at checkout, before you pay: on an eligible order it currently unlocks three months of Full Self-Driving (Supervised) — about $300 in value — on Model 3, Model Y or a qualifying Cybertruck trim, and $400 off a solar order. Model S and Model X carry no benefit; Tesla removed them from the North America program in March 2026. That single change is also why so many other referral pages are now wrong — which is why this page runs as a dated, corrected record instead of a one-off article. The board below is the current state at a glance; under it, a dated changelog shows exactly what moved, and a corrections table lists the claims to stop trusting.
Correction
The headline change: several referral pages still list Model S and Model X as qualifying and quote a “$500–$1,000 discount” or “free Supercharging.” Tesla removed S and X from the North America referral program in March 2026, and today's buyer reward is a three-month FSD (Supervised) trial. We publish only figures we can cite.
Program status at a glance · verified July 13, 2026
Buyer reward
Current
3 months free FSD (Supervised)
Model 3, Model Y and eligible Cybertruck. Applies automatically at checkout — about US$300 in value.
Model S & Model X
Removed
No referral benefit
Removed from the North America referral program in March 2026. An S or X buyer earns nothing from a referral.
Cybertruck eligibility
Limited
Premium AWD & Cyberbeast only
The Dual Motor AWD Cybertruck is excluded from the referral trial. This benefit itself changed in March 2026 — see the changelog below.
Tesla Solar
Current
US$400 off
Solar Panels or Solar Roof. A solar order is a separate referral from a vehicle order.
Referrer reward
Current
$250 Tesla Credits
Per successful vehicle or solar referral, capped at 10 per calendar year. Paid to the referrer, not the buyer.
How it applies
Current
Open the link before ordering
There is no coupon box. The benefit shows in the order summary before payment; it cannot be added afterwards.
The changelog — what changed, and when
A dated record of every change we have logged to the North America referral program, newest first. Where Tesla did not publish an exact day, the entry states the month the change took effect.
Verification
Re-verified: reward and eligible models unchanged
Re-checked the program against Tesla's own Refer and Earn page. The buyer reward (three months of FSD (Supervised)) and the list of eligible models are unchanged since the March update. Date stamped and carried through every page.
Model S and Model X removed from the North America program
Tesla removed Model S and Model X from the North America referral program — an S or X buyer no longer earns a referral benefit; the previous $1,000 cash discount on those models is gone, not reduced. This is the single change most stale pages have missed.
Cybertruck referral benefit swapped from a $1,000 discount to the FSD trial
In the same March 2026 update that removed S/X, the Cybertruck referral benefit changed shape: Premium AWD and Cyberbeast buyers lost the earlier $1,000 cash discount and now receive the three-month FSD (Supervised) trial instead — the same reward as Model 3 and Model Y. The Dual Motor AWD trim was not carried over and remains excluded.
Existing-owner loyalty discount cut from $1,000 to $500
A related but separate benefit — the loyalty discount Tesla offers existing owners buying a new Model S, Model X or eligible Cybertruck — was halved from $1,000 to $500 in the same update. This is a loyalty perk, not the referral reward, and it is not paid to the person who shared the referral code; we log it here because several pages that discuss “Tesla referral discounts” conflate the two.
Buyer reward switched to a three-month FSD (Supervised) trial
The buyer reward shifted to a three-month Full Self-Driving (Supervised) trial on eligible models, replacing the earlier cash-style discount that many pages still quote as “$500–$1,000 off.”
Changelog re-checked against Tesla's Refer and Earn page and corroborating reporting on July 13, 2026. The buyer reward and the list of eligible models are unchanged since the March 2026 update.

Source
Model S and Model X qualify for a referral discount.
They were removed from the North America program in March 2026 — no buyer benefit.
The buyer reward — three months of FSD (Supervised) — is the same on both sides of the border. Currency, energy-product availability and the incentives you can stack are not:
United States: values in USD; the FSD trial is separate from any federal or state EV incentive, so a referral never costs you a rebate.
Canada: billed in CAD; note that iZEV has closed and EVAP replaced it, plus the British Columbia caveat on the referrer reward.
